Decorated trucks, or so-called "deco-trucks," can be found in South Asia and South America, but Pakistani trucks are characterized by more flamboyant decorations.
The "decotrailer" in PakistanThe origins of the "truck decorating" industry can be traced back to around 1920, and in the largest city, Karachi alone, about 50,000 people are employed in occupations related to truck decorating.
It is believed that the more flamboyant the design, the more likely it is to attract new customers, and it has taken root as a business tradition, not just an art form.
