This is Souk Waqif in Doha, the capital of Qatar. It is one of the oldest souks (markets) in Qatar.
With a history of about 250 years, it was originally a place where nomads traded animals and wool. The Arabic word "waqif" means "standing," and derives from the fact that merchants used to sell their goods in a standing position.
However, it gradually declined, and in the 2000s, it was decided that reconstruction would take place to preserve this historic place. The reconstruction was then carried out in a traditional architectural style that links the past with the present, and the souk (market) was completed in the form shown in the photo.
In this souk (market), not only can one buy food, clothes, souvenirs, etc., and eat, but also various festivals seem to take place several times a year. It is also a popular place for tourists.
