White mountains against the clear blue sky. Can you guess what this is?
The man is standing on a beautiful white cotton plant. Cotton flowers are the raw material for cotton, the most familiar material for the clothes we wear. India is one of the world's leading cotton-producing countries. This photo was taken in the western part of the country, where production is particularly active.
How in the world will these cotton seeds be turned into clothes? How many garments will be made from them, and where in the world will they be worn, and by whom? The clothes we wear today may actually be made of cotton from India.
