This is a mosaic mural painted at the entrance to the National History Museum in Tirana, the capital of Albania. The mural, titled "The Albanians," depicts Albanians from different periods of history in a single image. The left side depicts the rebellion against the Roman Empire and other invaders, the right side depicts the struggle against fascism in Italy and Germany during the World War II era, and the center depicts workers in the 1980s marching toward a communist future.
The region where Albania is now located experienced the domination of numerous powers before and after independence. What has been the history of Albania up to the present day?
