This is the Joaquin Antonio Uribe Botanical Garden in the Colombian city of Medellín.
As many as 1,000 species of orchids and other plants, as well as birds and lakes, can be observed.
It is called Orquideorama and is located in the gardens of the Botanical Garden, an architectural structure designed in the shape of a bouquet of flowers. The beehive-like appearance, made of wood and steel, is said to come from the 14 orchids placed in the center of the columns. It aims to transcend the distinction between the architectural and biological worlds. It is also a place of relaxation for the people of the town.
Every year in August, Medellín holds a flower festival that lasts more than a week. Colorful flowers are displayed throughout the city. The botanical garden here also has a special display of orchids and other flowers in its gardens. On the last day of the festival, hundreds of people called "cijeteros" walk through the town carrying colorful flowers as the main event. The flowers are said to weigh up to 100 kg.
Medellín is an attractive city as a tourist destination with abundant transportation options such as metro and cable cars. It is also a good place to visit for flower viewing.
