This is the view from a hill called El Panecillo in the Ecuadorian city of Quito.
Quito has a statue of the Virgin with angel wings.
From this hill, in addition to having a panoramic view of the town, one can also get a clean view of the entire statue of that Virgin.
The statue is said to be made of approximately 7,000 pieces of aluminum.
Furthermore, Mt. Cotopaxi can be seen behind the beautiful cityscape.
Cotopaxi" means "shining giant," and at 5,897 meters high, the mountain is the second largest in Ecuador.
It is an active volcano that has erupted more than 50 times since 1738.
Once revered by the Ecuadorian people for bringing rain and abundant crops, it was believed that there was a god at the top of the mountain.
We invite you to take a look at the panoramic view of Quito from El Panecillo.
