The Sava River is a river rich in biodiversity that spans four European countries: Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina. In recent years, however, the environment surrounding the Sava River has been deteriorating due to various factors, including agricultural intensification and urbanization, development of hydropower and inland water transportation, development of flood protection programs, and climate change.
