The "Bima Sinkhole" shines in emerald green.
This is Oman, a country in the Middle East. It is located in Hawiyat Nazim Park.
This sinkhole is approximately 40 m wide and 20 m deep.
The water collected at the bottom is a mixture of fresh and salt water, giving it an emerald green color.
The Bima Sinkhole is a famous tourist attraction and you can actually swim in it. It seems to be inhabited by fish.
The bottom of the holes are made of soluble limestone and carbonate rocks. Therefore, geographers believe that the hole was formed by erosion of these rocks by groundwater. However, local people believe that the hole was formed by a meteorite. For this reason, "Hawiyat Najim Park" is locally called "Meteorite Park.
